We will gather a few of the key humans together to share the process and celebrate the return of Medicine Wheel land to the Mi’kmaq Nation.
Since mid-December, we’ve seen three of these Tributary landscapes returned to Wabanaki nations. Each of these showing the promise of what the First Light community, all of you, can do with coordinated action and commitment to a shared vision. These first three returns provide new water access and food security opportunities to the Mi’kmaq Nation, a doubling of the land owned by the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians along the Meduxnekeag River with the return of nearly 1300 acres, and access to new lake frontage and woodlands for the Passamaquoddy Tribe adjacent to Indian Township.
Information on how to join the virtual event will be shared through First Light connections soon.
